The fact Shokin was already on the scene is irrelevant. Ukraine does not belong to the EU, the US nor indeed the IMF. And this whole idea these entities are so upset by seeing corruption/incompetence in other countries that they have to intervene for moral reasons, is an insult to the intellect of a 10-year-old - at best. Politics around the globe is awash with corruption, including the west. Rooting our corruption in Ukraine was a common concern for the entire EU and the IMF. Shokin was doing nothing to uproot it and Biden was sent by Obama - with the blessing and concurrence of the EU and the IMF to try to get him removed. He succeeded.

It's a bollocks argument. Shokin was patently a serious problem - more of a problem to the west, than he ever was to Ukraine. Incompetence quite clearly doesn't qualify on that level - and as for corruption, you've got to be **** kidding me.
